2011 WFAA Spring Luncheon

The 31st Annual Spring Luncheon, "Celebrating 50 Years in 60's Style" was a delightful event, honoring the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Fine Arts Association.

The signature tables celebrated the year 1961. From the ordinary to the significant, the themed tables brought the events of 1961 to life. No concept was too challenging for the table designers.

It was the Era of Camelot, as John F. Kennedy took his oath of office. Elvis Presley and Marilyn Monroe were in the news daily. The three most popular television programs were Bonanza, Wagon Train, and Gunsmoke. Everyone read Look Magazine, ate at diners and occasionally used the expression "Feeling Groovy." "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and the song, "Moon River" captivated audiences. Harper Lee won the Pulitzer Prize for her amazing novel "To Kill a Mockingbird" and Barbie finally got a boyfriend. To complete the celebration of 1961 an elegant recreation of Helen Wright's dinner table honored one of the beloved founding members of the WFAA.

The Woodstock Fine Arts Association also honored Darlene Fiske for her 50 years of commitment to the organization. She was presented with a strand of pearls at the luncheon - one pearl for each year.

A fashion show "From Princess Grace to Twiggy" charmed the guests, featuring original dresses from the era. The program was presented by Ruth Thomas and Chloe Berg representing "Decades of Dresses."

The 2011 Spring Luncheon was a big great success, thanks to the energetic and creative WFAA Board, the generous donors to the silent auction, and the many supporters of this wonderful organization.
